Salford City Council

1 February 2011

Dear Mr Tumulty,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information requests of 19,
20, 21 and 22 November. I apologise for the delay in our response. Your
requests and the councils responses are as follows:

Request 1

council chamber meetings in the past 12 months of this request

This is exempt information under section 21 (1) of the Freedom of
Information Act, which provides an exemption for information which is
reasonably accessible to the applicant otherwise than under section 1 of
the Act. This information is available on the council's website at the
following link: [1]http://services.salford.gov.uk/solar/acc...

Request 2

How much in past 5 years has Salford Council, funded the Salford Star? Do
the council still give salford star any money?

The council provided the Salford Star with a grant of £1596 in March
2006. The council has not provided the Salford Star with any other funding
in the last five years.

Request 3

There is a story going round that Mr John Merry will soon be getting the
use of a helicopter to travel round Salford is this true? when is this
going to happening? have the council ever used a helicopter for any thing?
if so what for? how many times? and how much has been spent? - past 5
years of request

The council have never used a helicopter, nor have any plans to use a
helicopter, for travel or any other purpose.

Request 4

List all banned web sites from your computer systems

The council has filtering software which blocks access to certain
categories of website. However, details of the websites which are blocked
are not held by the council but by the company which provides the
software. Examples of categories of website which are blocked include:
adult content, gambling, websites with violent/undesirable content, and
malicious websites which may damage individual computers or the council's
network

Request 5

John Merry states on the Salford Stars web site - "Mr Griffin was not
welcome in Salford and the BNP's attempt to politicise the Remembrance
Ceremony was met with disgust. The BNP spent the two minutes of silence
filming their leader, clearly not caring about the ordinary Salford
people." ([2]http://www.salfordstar.com/article.asp?i...) What did Mr
Merry mean by his 1st comment - Mr Griffin was not welcome in Salford?
in-fact ask him to explain the whole lot, In the same respect could you
just remind Mr Merry that Mr Griffin is the N/W MEP so i think he is very
welcome in Salford. Was Mr Merry speaking on behalf of the council, or
just his party? Will Mr Merry be making a public apology for his daily
rant?

The Freedom of Information Act provides a right of access to recorded
information held by public authorities. This is not a request for recorded
information held by the council but a series of questions seeking
explanations.

Request 6

of this request, were possible detail nature of complains and details
names with amounts.

reasonably accessible to the applicant otherwise than under section 1 of
the Act. Information about complaints received about councillors can be
