Dear Sir or Madam,

Please could you release all information that you hold relating to
the Banksy exhibition currently taking place at the City Museum.
Please could you include any documents of any kind including
written correspondence / emails, both external & internal, and
please include material both in the period leading up to the
exhibition and any material created since. Please could you
interpret this request to include information about the exhibition
itself, about the arrangements which were made at the museum to
accommodate the exhibition and their impacts, the communications
within the city council (and the internal 'communications blackout'
referred to in the BBC News article at
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment...),
and any information which relates to reviews, reaction or other
opinions expressed about the exhibition.

Dear requester,

Following your Freedom of Information request, I now have pleasure in
attaching e mails and contracts relating to the Banksy exhibition.

You will note that some information has been redacted (blacked out).
This is because one or more of the following exemptions apply to that
information;

Section 40- Personal information
Section 42- Legal Professional Privilege
Section 43- Commercial interests and the public interest in disclosure
is not believed to outweigh this information being withheld. This is
because disclosure may lead to the identity of the artist being at risk
which is crucial to his commercial interests and the need to maintain
confidentiality regarding the special contractual arrangements between
the artist and the Council.

The attached correspondence comprises everything that the Council holds
in relation to this matter. The Officer that dealt with this matter has
left the Council and no further information is held.

For the sake of completeness, the Chief Executive did meet with another
Officer working at the museum to discuss the exhibition on two occasions
and no notes were made at these meetings.

This response should answer your request in full, however if you are
not satisfied with this response or wish to lodge an appeal against any
exemptions that may have been applied, you can do so by writing to the
Data Protection Officer at Bristol City Council Legal Services, The
Council House, College Green, Bristol, BS99 7PH or [Bristol City Council request email].

Dear Shahzia Daya,

Thank you for this information. I am surprised that, apart from a
Health & Safety note from 10 July, there is no information with a
date later than June. It seems rather implausible that no city
council staff have sent or received emails about the exhibition
since then. To help you track down any information which may be
missing, I would like to re-frame my request as follows. If you
need to treat this as a new request, that's fine.

Please could you release any information that you hold relating to
the Banksy exhibition currently taking place at the City Museum
(other than that already released in response to the earlier
version of this request).

Please could you include any documents of any kind including
written correspondence / emails, both external & internal, and
please include material both in the period leading up to the
exhibition and any material created since.

Please could you interpret this request to include information
about the exhibition itself, about the arrangements which were made
at the museum to
accommodate the exhibition and their impacts, the communications
within the city council (and the internal 'communications blackout'
referred to in the BBC News article at
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment...), and any information
which relates to reviews, reaction or other opinions expressed
about the exhibition.

Please use the following criterion to establish whether or not to
incldue the information in your response:

1. Electronic documents which contain the term "Banksy".

2. Emails which contain the term "Banksy" either in the subject,
body or any attachments.

This may throw up some false positive results, but that's not a
problem for me - I can easily discard those.

Chasing this request seems like a total waste of Bristol Councils time and money. The Banksy exhibition has been a great success and attracted large amounts of tourists to the area. Everyone agrees that the benefits of the show have outweighed any of the costs.
What fantastic piece of information are you trying to gain by requesting further information?

This request is not a waste of Bristol Councils time and money, the general public have a right to know how our money is being spent, whether the intentions are for a good cause or otherwise.

I for one would like to know the cost to taxpayers for the Musuem to arrange for Council employees private viewings when the Musuem says that they have limited staff numbers, I would also like to know why they think it is acceptable for them not to queue along with other member of the 'general public' ?

It's been pointed out to me that the list of exhibits may be incomplete. I haven't yet checked this myself. As this is not the main focus of my request, I will wait until I received a further reply before deciding whether to look further at this.

Banksy Vs Bristol Museum drew in over 300,000 people from not just the UK but from all four corners of the map and injected £10,000,000 into Bristol's economy.
