29 November 2010

Dear Mr Smith

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST

Following your request for information of 8 November received by e-mail,
the City of London (CoL) responds as follows.

1. Does the City of London Corporation support the Mayor of London and
London Assembly document 'Cycling Revolution' and in particular the
section on page 69 referring to 'local authorities'?

The elected Members of the City of London Corporation have not
formally considered the Mayor's Cycling Revolution London document,
and therefore the City Corporation has no adopted position on its
contents. In general terms, however, it appears to officers to be an
appropriate statement of the importance of cycling to London, and that
the "London boroughs" section on page 69 sets out a role for the City
of London Corporation which they are comfortable with and are largely
already performing.

Some further information about the City Corporation's approach to
cycling within the City that has been approved by elected Members will
be set out in the Draft City of London Local Implementation Plan 2011,
which will be published for public consultation on Monday 20 December
2010.

2. What provision has been made for cyclists:
(a) residents
(b) visitors
on Avondale Square social housing estate? London SE1.

None

3. Please indicate what new cycling facilities are planned for
Avondale Square in the years 2010- 2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013.

Nothing is currently included in plans covering the above years. As
Avondale Square Estate is located within the London Borough of Southwark
you may wish to contact them for further information on cycling within
Southwark.

If you have any queries or concerns, please contact me.

If you wish to make a complaint about the way the CoL has handled your
enquiry, please make your complaint in writing to email address:
[email address]. For a link to the CoL's FOI complaints
procedure, please visit the following page:
