Dear Ganesh Sittampalam

I refer to your email dated 6 April 12009 requesting information
concerning our WebCheck and WebFiling services.

You asked for a copy of any internal documents relating to the fact that
our "WebCheck" and "WebFiling" services are not available 24/7. In
particular you are interested in the reasons for this restriction, and any
discussions, internal reviews etc that Companies House may have had on
removing or relaxing this restriction.

We do not hold any documents that specifically relate to the fact that our
WebCheck and WebFiling services are not available 24/7. Prior to our
services being available 17/7, Companies House had not been able to
provide extended hours due to system restrictions. We have improved on
system capability and this has enabled our service availability to be
extended to 17/7.

A project is underway to extend the daily service availability of WebCheck
and WebFiling from 17 to 24 hours. The first phase of the project is
to identify the system and hardware infrastructure changes that will be
required to fully support a move to 24/7. As part of this process we will
also identify how essential systems maintenance will be undertaken.

We will be implementing major systems and process changes in October
2009 to support the final enactment phase of the 2006 Companies Act. Our
current expectation is that the extension to WebFiling and WebCheck will
follow on from these major changes during 2010. We will have a clearer
idea of timing once we have fully identified the system changes that will
be required.

Your request for information has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information legislation and I hope that the above information fully
answers your enquiry, but if you have any queries about this email, please
contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any
future communications.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your
request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our response,
you should write to me, within two calendar months of the date of this
email, and I will ensure that it is forwarded to a senior member of
Companies House who has had no previous involvement in this case and they
will undertake the review. If you are not content with the outcome of
your review, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have
exhausted the complaints procedure provided by us. The Information
Commissioner can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office,
Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Yours sincerely

Dear Mrs Harnett,

Thank you for your response. I'm afraid I don't believe you have
dealt with my request adequately, as I didn't just ask for
documents "specifically" relating to this lack of availability. If
the problem is related to a general "system restriction" then any
documents relating to this restriction would fall within the scope
of my request.

Regards,

Ganesh
