Authorisation of temporary traffic lights

1) Any written procedure for authorising the installation of
temporary traffic lights.
2) Any written policy or guidelines for reaching a decision as to
whether temporary traffic lights should be authorised.

Thank you for your information request dated 29 December 2011.Â
Your request was received by the Isle of Wight Council on 3 January and is
currently being considered.
As required by the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Isle of Wight
Council will respond to you as soon as possible and no later than 20
working days after the receipt of your request.
Under the Act, there is a limit for responding to requests where they
exceed the Appropriate Fee Limit as set out in the Freedom of Information
and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulation 2004. The fee
limit is set down by the Lord Chancellor and is £450 which equates to a
maximum of 18 hours of search and retrieval time.Â
Should your request fall into this category, we will notify you as soon as
possible, to discuss any options available to you.

1. Any written procedure for authorising the installation of
temporary traffic lights?
Information regarding how to apply for temporary traffic lights and how
much it costs can be found on the council’s website – [1]www.iwight.com.
An application form for temporary traffic lights is available from the
council’s Traffic Section by either telephoning 01983 823777 or e-mailing
[2][email address]
I have also enclosed a copy of the application form and a flow
chart showing the process from when an application is received.
2. Any written policy or guidelines for reaching a
decision as to whether temporary traffic lights should be authorised
Traffic safety measures and signs for roadworks and temporary situations
are determined by reference to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Road Signs manual
2009.
Some of the information that we provide in response to Freedom of
