Dear Sirs,
This is a formal request for information in terms of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
Under the above noted Act I seek the provision of the following
information from the CPS:
(a) In relation to those charged to date in connection with the
disorder that had taken place in the Manchester area during the "UK
Riots" last month, how many defendants have had all charges against
them discontinued by the CPS and what were the reasons for
discontinuing proceedings
(b) In relation to those charged to date in connection with the
disorder that had taken place in the Manchester area during the "UK
Riots" last month, how many defendants have been found "Not Guilty"
of all charges
(c) for (a) and (b) above (figures provided individually) how many
of those persons had been on remand at the time of the decision not
to proceed on all charges or the not guilty verdict.
