Dear Sir or Madam,

A few months ago I made an objection to camden councils accounts -
to Dolitte and Touche, who the Audit commission uses to do the
annual audits of local authorities.

When I first contacted Dolitte to inform them I was making an
objection they tried to put me off and without even seeing my
evidence. I then sent them my evidence and they said they would
investigate or words to that effect.

This 'investigation' took the form of delays, delays and more
delays with the original 'investigator' taking an alleged career
break before finishing the investigation.

The investigation was taken over by a senior Dolittee
auditor/investigator.

This senior investigator recently closed the 'investigation' based
on the response camden council gave to them.

I was not satisfied with the councils response and informed the
Dolittee auditor of this and pointed out to him that the response
he had been given by camden council in my view, showed more
evidence of wrong-doing. He wasn't interested in what I had to say
and the case is closed.

I do not believe that Dolitte investigated my objections fairly.

My question is:
What is the point in the public being able to inspect councils
accounts and make objections to suspected fraud and illegal acts,
when the auditors responsible for doing the auditing have a cosy
relationship with the audited body?

Yours faithfully,

T. Morgan

Dear Shaun Kavanagh,

Thank you for your reply. I don't have a information request and
the appointed auditor in question is in talks with the Audit
Commission about the concerns I have and I will wait for him to get
back to me with the outcome of these talks.

Yours sincerely,

T. Morgan

Have you asked them for all the documents and/or information they hold related to your challenge to the accounts and made a similar FOI to the Council

I have asked the auditors for the info you mentioned and a statement of their reasons for closing my Objection to camden councils accounts - the auditors are using delaying tactics to get out of sending me the information and in providing me with a statement of their reasons. I will very shortly make a complaint about them to the audit commission.
