Audit Regulations Act 2003

A Freedom of Information request to Sefton Borough Council by Aidan McGuire

The request was successful.

14 July 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

Under Section 16 (Notice of public rights) of the Accounts and
Audit Regulations 2003, Sefton Council must give notice by
advertisement of the place and the hours during which I may, under
Section 15 of the Audit Commission Act, inspect the Council's
accounts to be audited and all books, deeds, contracts, bills,
vouchers and receipts relating to them.

Unfortunately I can find no reference to this notice anywhere on
the Sefton Council website, and my inquiries by email for details
have not been successfully answered so far.

May I have a copy of this advertisement informing the public of
this right, and information about where it was placed, regarding
this years (2007/08) Council accounts?

Thanks for your help,

Yours faithfully,

Aidan McGuire

The Council used to provide details with their Council Tax Bills of how and when to exercise your right to inspect their records. If I remember correctly it was during a short period at the end of the Financial Year.
