Attendance in response to requests to calls from Ty Issalt Abbey Rd Llandudno
Janet Haworth made this Freedom of Information request to North Wales Police Authority
Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, North Wales Police Authority should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear North Wales Police Authority,
I am seeking information about the number of responses made to Ty
Issalt(homeless hostel) in Abbey Rd Llandudno.
I am interested in the period from February 1st 2009 to Dec 3rd
2011.
What times of the day or night were officers called to attend?
Which days of the week including weekends were they called to
attend?
Outcomes in relation to incidents, ie arrests made, charges
brought?
How were these incidents categorised in terms of crime statistics
and or severity.
On the evening of the 2nd Dec 2011,officers were again called to
attend at Ty Issalt resulting in one young man being handcuffed
behind his back and led by two officers from the premises.
At one time there were 8 police officers and 3 vehicles with blue
lights flashing in Abbey Rd ( designated a prime letting area for
tourism)
I saw one young man flee the premises prior to the police arriving.
It seems to me as a resident, living opposite Ty Issalt and a guest
house owner that there is a pattern emerging. Are incidents
happening in the evening and weekends? Does this have implications
for the type of staff and staffing levels at these times? As far as
I know the manager does not do a weekend or evening duty?
Is the vetting of prospective residents effective?
I am not anti Ty Issalt I am a elected resident member of the Ty
Issalt Advisory Panel and a serving town and county councillor. Ty
Issalt purports to provide safe and secure accommodation for
homeless young people. These incidents threaten the safety of staff
and other residents. They are also damaging to our vital tourism
business confidence at a difficult economic time for Wales and
Llandudno.
Yours faithfully,
County Councillor Janet Haworth
