Association Between V5C Serial Number, VRM & DRM

Thank you for your e-mail of 29 January 2010 requesting information
under the Freedom of Information Act.

As your enquiry falls within the Agency’s day to day business, this
is being treated as ‘Business as Usual’ and not as a Freedom of
Information request.

There is no link between the Serial Number of a Registration
Certificate and the Vehicle Registration Mark or Document Reference
Number.

Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency,

I am aware that the Document Reference Number (DRN) of a V5C can
be
checked in conjunction with the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM)
to
confirm that the two match i.e. they are linked, see:

Is there a similar link between either:
1. The Serial Number & the VRM and / or
2. The Serial Number and the DRM
That is to say, if you are supplied:
a. A DRM and / or VRM, can you determine (not necessarily
disclose)
the Serial Number
b. A Serial Number can you determine (not necessarily disclose)
the
associated DRM or VRM
