In respect of your follow up enquiry the list of Council owned properties passed to you included those properties occupied by the Council and those leased to commercial tenants. As such liability for rates rests with the occupier. Accordingly, I am taking advice from our Non-Domestic Rates Section regarding the information requested.

Mr Ovens
Our Non Domestic Rates Section has advised that extracting the information requested is an extensive exercise particularly in respect of the commercially leased properties occupied by private businesses. For clarification do you wish the amount paid in rates for theses properties by private companies or would it be sufficient to provide rates paid by Falkirk Council in respect of the properties it occupies to deliver services?

I never knew Falkirk Council had to pay rates on the properties it
occupies to deliver services, yes that would do for now.(btw, who
do you pay this money to?) I did think there would be a record kept
of rates paid by commercially leased properties though, ie, one
that was easy to access.
