FOI/1083
Dear Ms. Cattell
Freedom of Information Request FOI/1083
I am writing to confirm that the West Midlands Fire Service has now
completed its search for the information you requested on the Aspire
Awards.
I am pleased to provide details of the information you have requested.
There will be no charge for this set of information.
Your Question:
I would like to know how much the Aspire Awards 2010 cost the West
Midlands Fire Service to run. Also how many trucks were unavailable
due to on duty fire fighters attending the event?
Our Response:
The majority of the cost of the Aspire Awards event was not borne by West
Midlands Fire Service but by corporate sponsorship and a full list of
sponsors can be found on West Midlands Fire Service website by following
the attached link;
[1]http://www.wmfs.net/Media/Aspire_Awards_....
There were some overtime costs related to support staff that provided some
services to facilitate the smooth running of the event i.e. Watch Manager
from Public Relations and three Brigade Photographers. Other Public
Relations staff accrued Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) for their work at the
event. The direct cost to West Midlands Fire Service was under £300.
Two fire appliances from Ladywood and Erdington were present initially at
the event but these appliances were not in attendance for the duration and
were designated as a `delayed response'. This meant that they were
available for operational response at all times. Therefore in response to
your question, no trucks were unavailable due to `on duty' fire-fighters
attending the Aspire Awards ceremony.
I hope this provides all the information you require. Should you require
further clarification please do not hesitate to contact me.
Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future
communications.
Thank you for your interest in West Midlands Fire Service.
Yours sincerely
Julie
