Arrowe Country Park - Pond Survey (recent)

VAL CURTIS made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council did not have the information requested.

From: VAL CURTIS

3 June 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,
Within the last few months, we know that there has taken place, 'a
pond survey' of the ponds within the boundary of 'Arrowe Country
Park'; (inc. of land at 'Thingwall Corner'/Thingwall Rd. East-
Arrowe Park Rd).
We are advised that the consultants conducting said survey were
acting for, 'United Utilities'.
We would like to sight correspondence regarding the commissioning
of this survey, reasons for it, details of the granting of
permission, and access to the report.
Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Val Curtis (CHAIR) Friends of Arrowe Country Park

Good Morning,
Thank you for your request below. United Utilities is not a part of the
Council and is a separate legal entity. You would need to contact
United Utilities directly to ask them about this survey as it is not
information the Council holds.

United Utilities is not subject to the Freedom of Information Act but
they may voluntarily supply information upon request.

I hope this has helped.
Yours Sincerely
Jane Corrin
Information Manager

Dear InfoMgr, FinDMT,

I understand what you are saying, but surely as 'we'/'Council' own
the greenbelt Parkland, they would be asking the reason for survey,
because 'COUNCIL' COULD REFUSE PERMISSION. IT IS REASONABLE AND
EXPECTED, THAT ANY GROUP/INDIVIDUAL SEEKING TO 'SURVEY' FEATURES OF
LAND WOULD, AS A MATTER OF COURTESY, WHEN SEEKING PERMISSION TO DO
SO, EXPLAIN THE PURPOSE.
That would be an example of 'good management' and stewardship.
Thus, I believe it is the business of Council Officers to find out,
and then inform 'the Public'/me, in the first instance. I believe
that the requirement of 'accountability' says that they should be
the group writing to United Utilities. I believe they are paid to
do that.
Yours sincerely,
Ms. Val Curtis

Good Afternoon,
This is not a Freedom of Information request; requests made under FOI
are for copies of recorded information held by the Public Body to whom
they are addressed. The Council does not hold this information so we
cannot supply it.
Yours sincerely
Jane Corrin

I sent my request to United Utilities, using the 'What do they know' procedure/system. It has come back with the message that, I think, the e-mail address is wrong...? Can anyone help with this, please? Thus, my question has not reached UU. Thanks, Val Curtis
