Appointment of Professor John Ditch and Catherine Elliott as independent members of the Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales

Guy Freeman made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

The request was partially successful.

From: Guy Freeman

11 February 2010

Dear Sir/Madam,

In mid-2009 Hilary Benn appointed Professor John Ditch and
Catherine Elliott as independent members of the Agricultural Wages
Board for England and Wales.

Please provide, under the auspices of the Freedom of Information
Act 2000, any and all departmental documentation concerning the
decision to appoint Professor Ditch and Ms. Elliott as members of
the AWB Board for England and Wales, including any information or
advice provided to the Secretary of State on the matter. I am
particularly looking for the reasons why it was decided that these
two candidates were suitable for this role and why they were
considered more suitable than other candidates. I am also
interested in the process that led to their being appointed, e.g.
whether they applied for the role or whether they were approached
by the department.

Please also provide, if possible, the level of compensation
Professor Ditch and Ms. Elliott receive for undertaking this role.

I look forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

Guy Freeman
