Applications for Conservation Area Consent for External Insulation

Cambridge City Council did not have the information requested.

Richard Taylor

Dear Cambridge City Council,

Could you please release a list of applications for conservation area consent which involved the installation of addition external insulation to the walls of existing homes.

I am interested in both in cases where permission was granted and those where it was refused.

I have searched the online planning public access system myself, but have found no examples. Could you please either confirm there have been no such applications, or provide the addresses, reference numbers and links to the applications on the planning public access system for those which have been made.

I am happy to limit my request to applications in the last three years; but if officers are aware of any noteworthy examples from before that I would be interested in a pointer to those too.

Regards,

I have spoken with the Conservation Team and have been told that
Conservation Area Consent only covers demolition of existing buildings
within a Conservation Area and not to alteration of existing buildings.

satisfied with the way your request has been dealt with you can contact

Dear Emma Farrington,

Many thanks for your response to my Freedom of Information "Applications for Conservation Area Consent for External Insulation". I was unaware that "Conservation Area Consent" was technical jargon with a meaning different from "Planning permission required for work due to the fact the property concerned is within a conservation area". The latter was the meaning I had intended, could you please reconsider my request in light of this.

My request floundered due to my lack of knowledge of local government planning jargon. Hopefully it is back on track now.

Dear Mr Taylor

In your freedom of Information request received date received, you
asked for the following information:

A list of applications for conservation area consent which involved the
installation of addition external insulation to the walls of existing
homes where permission was granted and those where it was refused.
Request limited to the last three years.

We have already clarified with you that you are referring to planning
permission and not conservation area consent.

I have carried out a search of Public Access by inserting the word
'cladding' in the search tool box.

This has revealed that whilst we have received a number of applications
for external cladding, there were no such applications in respect of
existing homes.

If you are not happy with the way in which your request has been dealt
with please contact Patsy Dell the Head of Planning. You may also
contact the Information Commissioner if you are still not happy with the
way your request has been dealt with. The Information Commissioner’s
address is:
