Dear Mr Carter
Thank you for your request for information. Your email was received on
30th December 2011 and has been dealt with under the provisions of the
Freedom of Information Act 2000.
The University's current student and applicant management information
system (SAMIS) came into use in 2001/02. Prior to this, the kind of
detailed information you have requested is no longer held.
With regard to the period covering 2002 to 2011, the University does not
hold the requested information in a format that would facilitate
straightforward identification, extraction and preparation for release.
Supplying you with the data listed in your request would require the
design and construction of complex, multiple custom reports with which
to interrogate SAMIS. It has been estimated that this would take
experienced staff several weeks' work and would, therefore, far exceed
the appropriate limit of 18 hours cited in Section 12 of the Freedom of
Information Act and defined in the Freedom of Information and Data
Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations 2004. For this
reason the data will not be disclosed at this time.
It has been suggested that UCAS may be better placed to help with your
request. If you have not done so already you may wish to contact them
via: http://www.ucas.com/about_us/foi/request....
If you wish to narrow the focus of your request, the University may be
able to provide overall applicant and entrant totals as far back as 1997
relatively easily.
I am sorry I cannot be of further assistance with your request. If you
are unhappy with the way in which your request has been handled you may
ask the University to conduct an internal review. Requests for internal
review should be addressed in writing to: The University Secretary,
Wessex House, University of Bath, BA2 7AY.
Yours sincerely
Lizzie Richmond
