Dear Mr Carter,
I write on behalf of the University of Leicester in response to your request, dated 31st December 2012, made under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Please find attached our response in the form of an excel datasheet with five tabs:
1 - Applications per cycle, whether they met the 15th January deadline or not, for both UCAS and Direct entry, with subtotals and total (note that for Direct applicants there is no standard deadline and so we have used the UCAS deadline).
2 - Offers per cycle, whether they met the 15th January application deadline or not, for both UCAS and Direct entry, with subtotals and total (note that for Direct applicants there is no standard deadline and so we have used the UCAS deadline).
3 - Deferred Offers from the cycle to a later Entry Year.
4 - Firm and Insurance Choices with numbers of Applications and number of Registered Entrants.
5 - Clearing, Adjustment and other non Direct or UCAS Entrants (i.e. RPAs).
All tabs are in chronological order from the earliest year that data is available from our student record system, we do not hold any information prior to this period. Note that Applications and Offers are from 2003, the first year that Deferrals are possible to measure is 2008, the first year that Adjustments and RPAs can be measured is 2009. Note that the latest full year of data is 2011/12.
Note that all applications are considered, therefore your sections 1.g.-1.i. do not apply to us.
If you have any concerns or wish to complain about any aspect of this response then in the first instance please contact the University's Freedom of Information Officer (Mr Colin Atkinson: 0116 252 2412, [email address]).
Please be aware that it is also your legal right under Section 50 of the Freedom of Information Act, to apply to the Information Commissioner for a decision whether a request for information made to the University has been dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Act. It should be noted that there is a requirement that there will be no undue delay in making the application and there is an expectation that the complainant will have exhausted the University's internal complaints procedure.
Complaints to the Information Commissioner should be addressed to:
