Our response
A breakdown undergraduate applications and admissions by School/Programme
for the years of entry 2006-2010 is published on pages 22 – 25 of our
Annual Statistics at [1]www.hw.ac.uk/documents/annual-statistics.pdf
Comparative statistics for previous years are available for study in the
University Archive during opening hours or by appointment. Further
information can be found at [2]http://www.hw.ac.uk/archive/visit-us.htm
This information is therefore otherwise accessible (exemption under FOISA
Section 25).
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) website contains
application and admission statistics by institution and year of entry
which you may also find helpful.
[3]http://www.ucas.ac.uk/about_us/stat_serv...
As your request contains 27 individual questions about applications and
admissions in each of 18 years, we estimate that it would take over 40
hours of staff time to retrieve this information for the years in which we
still hold it. Staff time is costed on the basis of the statutory ceiling
of £15 per hour, as set out in the FOISA Fees Regulations (see below).
Because the request would therefore cost over £600 to fulfil, the
University is not obliged to process it. (FOISA Section 12 (1) (1):
excessive cost of compliance.)
Please note that records of applicants who are unsuccessful or do not take
up a place at the University are destroyed in accordance with our records
retention policy so we do not hold detailed historical applicant data.
(FOISA Section 17: information not held.)
Please let me know if you would like advice and assistance to make a more
focused request for information that could be provided within the £600
cost ceiling. We will then calculate the cost and issue you with a fees
notice in accordance with the [4]Freedom of Information (Fees for Required
Disclosure) (Scotland) Regulations 2004.
Your right to seek review of our decision
If you are not satisfied with our response or our reasoning set-out above,
you have forty working days from 1^st February 2012 in which to request a
review of our decision. Any request should be put in writing and should be
sent to Ann Jones, FOI Officer, at the address detailed at the bottom of
this email. The request should:
(a) detail your request for a review of our decision to be undertaken;
(b) describe the nature of your original request; and
(c) explain the reasons why you are dissatisfied with our response.
If you remain dissatisfied with how your request for information has been
dealt with, you also have the right to apply to the Scottish Information
Commissioner for a decision as to whether we have handled your request
properly.
Information relating to your right to seek review is available from the
Scottish Information Commissioner's web page at:
