Dear Sir or Madam,

I believe the policing areas of the North West Region are Cheshire,
Cumbria, Greater manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside

For each police force in the North West Region please provide the
following information.

1/ How many appeals were made from complainants as regards failure
to record.
2/ In how many of these appeals into non recording was the
complainant successful?
3/ How many appeals were made by complainants into the outcomes of
a police investigation?
4/ In how many of these appeals into outcomes of a police
investigation was the complainant successful?
5/ How many appeals were made from complainants as regards local
settlement?
6/ In how many of these appeals into outcomes of a local settlement
was the complainant successful?
7/ What is the overall percentage of successful appeals in the
three separate categories for every region in the country combined?

If you don't understand my request I will clarify if you wish.

Dear Mr Peasgill,
Please find attached three spread sheets giving the information you have
requested. While you have not specified any particular period we have
produced the figures for the last two complete years of operation -
2006/07 and 2007/08. As you may be aware the IPCC came into existence on
1 April 2004.

This data has been produced from data recorded by the IPCC on its own
