I understand that you have requested the following information:

Please could you release copies of all recorded information which

you hold relating to the British Waterways annual wildlife survey.

I am pleased to inform you that once we have confirmed the extent to which
the regulations permit the release of the information which you have
requested a response will be sent within a 20 working day timescale from

So that British Waterways can satisfy your request with the relevant
documentation could you please answer the below questions

1, do you want the recorded information from every survey for the last 6
years or just the 2009 survey?

2, do you want the raw data or the analysed data? The raw data is every
single species sighting, location and date, whereas the analysed is broken
down by business unit and species?

to your request for all documents regarding:

‘Please could you release copies of all recorded information which you
hold relating to the British Waterways annual wildlife survey?

Please see attached, all information relating to the above information
request.

compliance with the Data Protection Act.

The below information will help you to decipher the documents attached:

Analysed_by_BU_2009: relates to sightings that have been sorted into
species and business unit

Raw_featured_2009: relates to those species which are featured in the
wildlife survey leaflet (please see [3]www.waterscape.com/wildlifesurvey
for the latest leaflet)

Raw_species_2009: relates to the focus species of 2009 (the bumblebee) and
dragon/damselflies where people have recorded individual species names

Raw_other_2009: relates to all other species that people have recorded

Raw_total_2008: relates to all recorded sightings made in 2008 (the 2008
online survey form did not allow people to record more than one of any
particular species at any one time or to record ‘other’ species)

Analysed_by_BU_2008: relates to sightings that have been sorted into
species and business unit

Analysed_2007: relates to the records that were sorted in 2007

Analysed_2006: relates to the records that were sorted in 2006

Analysed_2005: relates to the records that were sorted in 2005

If we haven’t reasonably met your expectations in relation to a request
for information or you believe we may not have acted in accordance with
the above legislation you should write in the first instance to Caroline
Killeavy Head of Customer Relations, 64 Clarendon Road, Watford, Herts
WD17 1DA outlining your concerns and asking for a review to be
undertaken. Your correspondence will be acknowledged and a review of your
case will be undertaken. The review is usually undertaken by a director
and you should receive a response within 15 working days.
