Annual spend on temporary staff by individual school

Dear Bromley Borough Council,

I am interested in the amounts paid by each school in Bromley to
third parties in relation to temporary staffing cover. My
hope is to receive an electronic breakdown of amounts paid
through the department's purchase ledger by school.

Notes:
1. I would like the information in electronic format. This should
avoid any printing cost issues.
2. In order to avoid your having to collate information from
peripheral systems, I am willing to accept information only from
your main system (I would like you to advise which system this is).
By main system I mean the system that handles the largest part of
the department's expenditure. If supplier payments are
made through separate systems, then I would like you to choose the
main system for each.
3. The information I require for each school is: School Name;
Supplier name and total amount paid.
4. I would like the information to cover the year 2008/9. I will
accept 2007/8 figures if this is not possible.

Thank you for your request for information which I received on 5 March. Your request is now receiving attention and you should hear from the council within 20 working days of receipt.

Sometimes a fee is payable if it is estimated that a request will take a council officer more than 18 hours to locate and copy the information and to send it out. If that is the case, I will let you know and a fees notice will be sent to you. You will then have to pay before we can proceed to deal with your request.

Bromley is not able to provide the information that you have requested.

Budgets are delegated individually to schools who make their own arrangements to arrange and pay for temporary staffing cover.

The LA has no role in these arrangements.

Dear Bromley Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Bromley Borough
Council's handling of my FOI request 'Annual spend on temporary
staff by individual school'.

I have requested a breakdown by school. I would assume that
yearly financial accounting takes place, collating all information
from schools relating to CFR E26 - Supply Teacher spend with
agencies, and that a system somewhere holds this information.

If you cannot provide this information, can you please provide me
with more specific details of who can, and not just the DCSF
website. I have had no issues obtianing this information from other
Local Authorities.

Dear D Boucher

In your email of 19 March requesting an internal review you appear to have narrowed the category of information you originally requested. The LA can not provide the information originally requested, ie supplier name, as this level of detail rests with individual schools and not the LA. We can, however, provide total amounts paid to suppliers and a spreadsheet is attached.
