Dear Somerset County Council,
I am seeking a summary of the amount of money spent by each
Somerset Nursery or Early Years setting during the 2008/9 and
2009/10 financial years on Temporary staff.
By summary, I mean the data that is provided by nurseries at the
end of the financial year to the council, showing what they have
spent for that year.
(This information relates to lines CFR 02 & CFR 26 of the schools
Consistent Financial reporting system.)
I will accept the data on an excel spreadsheet, ideally with the
following headers:
School Name> CFR 02 Spend 08/09> CFR 26 Spend 08/09
eg.
School Name ----- CFR 02 Spend 08/09 ---CFR 26 Spend 08/09
Joe Bloggs High School ----- 99,199 ----- 24,199
Jane Doe Primary School ----- 17,276 ------ 27,999
If you require any further assistance, please contact me.
Yours faithfully,
L Hitchcock

Dear Mr. Hitchcock,
Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request concerning
children's nurseries in Somerset. I can confirm that the Council does
hold the information you are seeking, but not in a format that will answer
your question.
The issue is that Local Authority (LA) maintained nursery classes are
included in the school CFR returns and do not complete a separate return,
therefore we cannot provide the information requested. Other nurseries,
known as Private, Voluntary or Independent, are funded for the free 15
hours entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds, but are not required to provide
financial returns to the LA.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original request and should be addressed to the Information Governance
Manager, Peter Grogan; [1][email address]
Please remember to quote the reference number 667 in any future
communications.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF.
