Thank you for your e-mail of 23rd May 2011, requesting the following
information from Ordnance Survery under the Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA) 2000:

'May I be sent a list of the data sets currently returned to your
Department by Hackney London Borough Council?'

Unfortunately, we feel that your request for information is unclear and we
therefore seek clarification. The reason we ask for clarification is to
ensure that we understand exactly what you wish to know, this will enable
us to provide an appropriate response to your request.

Please can you detail further, what data sets your request refers, and any
further information you feel may assist us with locating and providing the
information you are seeking.

Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000, we are obliged to
provide you with a response to your request within twenty working days.
However, as we have sough clarification from you we will halt the twenty
working days at the date of this correspondence, and recommence the twenty
working days from the date your clarification response is received.

We will acknowledge your clarification response, and confirm the revised
date by which you should expect to receive a full response from us.

e-mail of then same date which we acknowledge.

We refer to your initial request being:

`May I be sent a list of the data sets currently returned to your
Department by Hackney London Borough Council?'

And your clarification:

`My reason for asking for a list of data sets returned by Hackney LBC is
because I then want to know which type of data set to request.

Attempting to clarify this request makes this a Catch-22 loop where I
don't know what to ask for but need to know what to ask for. Do you have
any options for me?

If Hackney LBC doesn't return any compiled data sets to your department
then please except my apologies for erroneously requesting this
information.'

I regret to inform you that Ordnance Survey is unable to help you with
your enquiry as we do not hold this information. This is because the
London Borough of Hackney does not return to Ordnance Survey any compiled
datasets.
