Lauren Fruen made this Freedom of Information request to Kent Fire and Rescue Service

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Lauren Fruen to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Lauren Fruen

29 January 2012

Dear Kent Fire and Rescue Service,

This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.

Could you please supply me with the total cost to the Kent fire
and rescue service for rescuing animals in the last year in the
Canterbury area, including
where possible a breakdown of the type of animals that were rescued
and brief details about the rescue (when and by how many fire
fighters and appliances) - detailing whether the fire service
employ (or have you every employed) an animal rescue specialist.

Please include copies of material which you hold in the form of
paper and electronic records
including emails.

I would be grateful if you would supply this information in the
form of by email.

If I can help to clarify this request please contact me by email.

I look forward to hearing from you promptly, as required by the
legislation, and in any case
within 20 working days.

Could you please confirm receipt of this email.

Yours faithfully,

Lauren Fruen

20 February 2012

Dear Lauren

In the last year [17 Feb 2011 to 17 Feb 2012], there have been two animal
rescues in the Canterbury area.

·         10/05/2011 - 1180: Call to assist RSPCA to release trapped
Seagull from netting surrounding chimney. Comments on the incident log say
“Unable to reach Gull, incident closed, will return later to assist
inspector if needed”

·         30/10/2011 - 2962: Crow trapped between soffit and tiles;
released by Service and removed by RSPCA.

I am sorry but we are not able to provide cost information as animal
rescues are not captured as a functional line within our budget
monitoring. Our animal rescue unit [based at Faversham] is not crewed full
time, as the staff there also crew a water unit, as well as the pumping
appliance.

Best regards
