"Anglo Relations"
John Simpson made this Freedom of Information request to Foreign and Commonwealth Office
The request was refused by Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
From: John Simpson
6 July 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
Under the Freedom of Information Act please release a list of which
countries the United Kingdom holds summits or relations with
officially using the term "Anglo".
For example a quick search on the FCO website finds "Anglo-French
Summit", "Anglo-German relations" and "Anglo Italian Summit"
The last time i checked the Foreign and Commonwealth Office is
meant to represent the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern
Ireland, why does it continue to use terms like "Anglo" which
clearly are meant to refer to English people or England only.
With the growing separatist threat faced in this country, it seems
this department is failing to do all it can to keep this United
Kingdom together by carrying out relations on behalf of the English
people instead of the BRITISH people which is offensive and
damaging. Why do it ? :\
Again, please release a full list of other sovereign states that
the United Kingdom has relations with where the term "Anglo" is
officially used in the past couple of years / continues to be used
as in cases mentioned above. Also if documents are available on
when "Anglo" should and should not be used, please release those
under the Freedom of Information Act.
Yours faithfully,
John Simpson
