Dear Sir or Madam,
I would like to request the following information under the Freedom
of Information Act:
1. What is the current total amount owed to the House by Peers,
including but not limited to overpayments of allowances, and
payments due for entertainment and catering;
2. Of this sum, how much has been outstanding (a) for over three
months and (b) for over six months;
3. How many Peers currently owe money to the House;
4. Of these, how many have owed this (a) for over three months and
(b) for over six months.

Dear Mr.Patience,
I apologise for the delay in responding to your request and hope the following information is helpful.
As at 9 September 2008, the amount owed to the House by Peers was £25,276.72. The majority of this is expected to be settled within one month of the House returning from the Summer recess on 6 October 2008.
Of this total the amount outstanding for over 180 days was £8,539.71 and £4,088.02 was outstanding for between 90 and 180 days.
As at 9 September 2008, 128 Peers owed money to the House. 18 Members had outstanding items of more than 180 days and 30 members had items outstanding for between 90 and 180 days.
