I would like to request the following information under the Freedom
of Information Act:

1. What is the current total amount owed to the House by Members of
Parliament, including but not limited to overpayments of salary and
allowances, and payments due for entertainment and catering;

2. Of this sum, how much has been outstanding (a) for over three
months and (b) for over six months;

3. How many Members of Parliament currently owe money to the House;

4. Of these, how many have owed this (a) for over three months and
(b) for over six months.

Thank you for your request which is copied below. The information you require is as follows:

472 Members had bills totalling £215,147.64 at 22 August 2008. The majority of these are expected to be paid within three months. 75 Members had expenditure of £32,277 incurred between three and six months previously, and 55 Members had expenditure of £55,636.64 incurred over 6 months before.

You may, if dissatisfied with the treatment of your request, ask the House of Commons to conduct an internal review of this decision. Requests for internal review should be addressed to: Freedom of Information Officer, Department of Finance and Administration, House of Commons London SW1 OAA or [House of Commons request email]. If you remain dissatisfied, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
