Amount of rent paid for ancillary offices within half a mile of UCLH

Dear Mr Gosen,

Thank you for your request for information relating to UCLH NHS Foundation
Trust, received on 8 April 2009. You should receive a response by 11 May
2009 at the latest, complying with the 20 working days as prescribed in
the Act.

Occasionally, we may not be able to provide you with all the information
you require by that date, but if this is the case we will inform you,
stating the reason and the date by which we would hope to respond to your
request.

Under the Act, there are 23 exemptions that can be applied to the
information you request. This may mean that we do not have to supply some
or all of the information, and in certain circumstances, do not have to
tell you if we hold the information. If this happens, you will be told
which exemption applies.

Dear Mr Gosen,

Please could you clarify what you mean by:

Also please advise what percentage of the space within the actual Hospital
is utilised by non clinical staff.

Do you mean all non clinical space or do you mean space occupied by
administrative staff, i.e. office type space?

2. Number of staff,due to constant changes, these figures are not totally
accurate but are close, all staff categories not just administrative as we
work in teams: ie: clinical, nursing and administrative, accommodated at:

* 250 Euston Road 1,017
* Maple House 651
* 140 Hampstead Road 120

Total 1,788

Total square footage of office space rented for all staff categories:
clinical, nursing and administrative who are accommodated at:

* 250 Euston Road 63,819
* Maple House 34,067
* 140 Hampstead Road 8,180

Total 106,066

3. Offices used by non-clinical staff within the hospital (Podium and
Tower) represents 0.62% of the total area. These offices are used for the
following functions:

Facilities management
Patient Transport
Security
Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) and Patient Affairs
Voluntary Services
League of Friends
Cashiers
Catering
Stores
Computing
Patientline (patient entertainment)

note that the buildings concerned accommodate both clinical and
