Ambulance Station Closure
Stuart Appleby made this Freedom of Information request to South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust
The request was successful.
From: Stuart Appleby
2 October 2010
Dear South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
I would like to make the following Freedom of Information request.
It was reported last year; Winchester's Ambulance Station would be
closing down in the near future.
I was wondering if there was any more information on whether this
was the case?
If so, can you provide details of when the station will be closing.
How many staff who work for the station will be made redundant
And any other details you may or may not have concerning the move.
In addition, could you tell me the total number of call-outs
received by Winchester Ambulance Station in the period 2007-2008,
2008-2009 and 2009-2010 from members of the public
Yours faithfully,
Stuart Appleby

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust

Good afternoon Mr Appleby
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding the ambulance station in Winchester. I show below our response to this situation:
South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust can confirm that negotiations are still ongoing with the developers for the site at Queens Road, Winchester and we are hoping to come to an agreement in the near future. In response to the relocation and as discussed, we are looking at a number of options which are in close vicinity to the current ambulance site to use as a standby point. This would ensure that we would retain a location facility in Winchester as part of the relocation of staff who currently work from that ambulance station, and we would like to emphasise that this will not decrease cover in the area, furthermore we would not be in a position to move to the new site until a standby location has been confirmed. However the exact location of the standby point has not yet been confirmed.
We can confirm that there will be no redundancies as all staff will be moving to the new site."
With regards to your enquiry about the number of call outs received by Winchester Ambulance Station during the periods 2007/8, 2008/9 and 2009/10 they are:
2007/08 2008/09 2009/10
4,705 4564 4291
I trust this response addresses your concerns but if for any reason you do not feel that they have been fully addressed please write back to me and let me know that you are still not satisfied and why. If, following this, you remain unhappy you can request consideration by the Health Service Ombudsman.
Regards
Mary Jones
