Dear Mr Briscoe,

Thank you for your email requesting information about relating to the
follow up of the review, that are dated following the November 2004 ONS
paper by MWilliams:
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE ALLSOPP REVIEW OF
STATISTICS FOR ECONOMIC POLICYMAKING

I have spoken with the people responsible for working on the review and
they have advised me that your request for information is likely to exceed
the appropriate limit as stipulated by regulations made under S12 of the
Freedom of Information Act.

At a quick glance, there are over 4,000 documents on the Allsopp database.
Obviously these don’t include all related papers as the Allsopp Programme
managed several development projects including Regional analysis, Business
Register and Employment Survey, Regional Accounts, Business Register,
Regional statisticians and investigating administrative data, but the cost
of identifying all the relevant documents and then deciding whether they
can be released or not would exceed the FOI limit.

I have spoken with Glen Everett who was the Allsopp Programme Director and
he has has said he would be happy to discuss your request with you in
order to identify how we can help you.   Glenn's direct number is 01633
455359

You have the right to have this response to your freedom of information
request reviewed internally by an internal review process and, if you
remain unhappy with the decision, by the Information Commissioner. If you
would like to have the decision reviewed please write to Dennis Roberts,
Office for National Statistics, Room 1214, Government Buildings, Cardiff
Road, Newport, Gwent, NP10 8XG.

If you have any queries about this email, please contact me. Please
remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

Yours Sincerely
Paul Wearn LLB (Hons)

Dear Paul Wearn,

I have spoken with Glen Everett. The request has now been limited
to cover just papers related to the policy surrounding Allsopp. It
is hoped that that will come in under allowance and a response is
expected within weeks.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Briscoe
