As of January 2010, please could you tell me:
1) How many allotment sites are there in Gateshead for which
Gateshead Borough Council has access to waiting list data?
2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?
3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites?
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

I refer to the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and to your e-mail to
this department/office dated 01.01.10.
In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, we have formally
decided to grant access to the records available and accordingly they
are as follows:
1) How many allotment sites are there in Gateshead for which Gateshead
Borough Council has access to waiting list data?
Gateshead Council has responsibility for 57 allotment sites and control
the waiting lists for 24 of those. The rest of the sites are managed on
behalf of Gateshead Council by various allotment associations who have
control of the waiting lists, we get advised when new tenants need
agreements.
2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?
The total number of plots = 1324 but the 24 the council controls = 395
3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these sites?
Of the 24 allotment sites the total number on the waiting lists (at
05.01.10) = 388
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
No
5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in 2009?
Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots
