Dear Margaret,
There appears to have been a breakdown in communications regarding this request ,in that we understood you request to have been responded to on or about the 24th Feb- the response clearly did not reach you, and I would therefore apologise for the delay.
Having checked with the relevant services, I am informed that there are currently no allotment sites run by Argyll & Bute Council. However the Council has been involved in extensive searches for sites with Dunoon and District Allotment Association for the last 4 years, so although no sites are in place, a significant amount of work has been undertaken by the Council working with the local Association.
I am further informed that there is one allotment site in the Helensburgh & Lomond Area but this it is not run by the Council- it is administered by an allotment society. I also understand that negotiations with the Forestry Commission are at an advanced stage for a site near Dunoon to be used for allotments and an announcement will be made when negotiations are complete.
Since there are currently no sites, there are consequently no formal waiting lists, although I understand that the Dunoon and District allotments association has a number of members who I believe have indicated an interest in having an allotment.
I hope that this information is of interest
If I can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Yours Sincerely
Stephen Doogan
