Dear Lancaster City Council,
As of January 2010, please could you tell me:
1) How many allotment sites are there in the council area for which
the Council has access to waiting list data?
2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?
3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites?
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

Dear Ms Campbell,
Thank you for your information request with regard to allotments in
Lancaster district, please find the answers to your queries below
As of January 2010, please could you tell me:
1) How many allotment sites are there in the council area for which
the Council has access to waiting list data? - None, the allotment
waiting lists on Lancaster City Council owned allotment sites are all
managed by Allotment Associations and those which are privately or Parish
owned are managed by other organisations. For further information, there
are 18 sites in Lancaster district, 11 of which are owned by Lancaster
City Council.
2) What is the total number of plots on these sites? - None in
relation to the above question but there are 507 Lancaster City Council
owned plots and approximately 125 other plots.
3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites? - Unknown but waiting lists are up to 10 years in length.
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications? - 5
waiting lists on Lancaster City Council owned sites are closed, I cannot
confirm for any of the other sites.
5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites - 0
b) names of new sites - N/A
c) total area of new land in hectares - N/A
d) total number of new plots - An 11 plot extension was created on an
existing site.

the decision. This will be dealt with by the Head of Legal and Human
Resources. If your appeal is not resolved you would then have the further
