As of January 2010, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in Southend for which
Southend on Sea Borough Council has access to waiting list data?

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

Thank you for your request for information about Allotment Waiting Lists.
Your request was received on

6 January 2 010 and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom
of Information Act 2000.

Please see the answers to you questions below:

As of December 2009,

1) How many Allotment sites are there in Southend for which Southend
on Sea Borough Council has access to waiting list data?

The council has 9 sites which they have access to waiting list data.

These sites are all directly run by the Allotment section of the Culture
Service of the Adult and Community Services Department. Five other sites
are run by Allotment Societies that are not accessible by the Council.

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

Please see below

3) How many people are on these waiting lists for an Allotment?

The Edwards Hall site has 53 plots, 5 rods in size; there are 15
people on the waiting list.

The Bridgewater Drive site has 16 plots, 10 rods in size a
number of 10 rod plots have been split into 5 rod plots; there are 16 on
the waiting list.

The Norwich Avenue site has 67 plots, 10 rods in size a number
of ten rod plots have been split into 5 rod plots; there are 31 people on
the waiting list.

The Sandringham Road Allotment has 6 plots 10 rods in size and
all have been split into 2 five rod plots or 3 smaller plots; there are 14
people on the waiting list.

The Lifstan Way site has 30 plots, 5 rods in size; there are 18
people on the waiting list.

The Herbert Road site has 29 plots, 5 rods in size; there are
23 people on the waiting list.

The St Andrews Road site has 27 plots, 10 rods in size, many of
which have been split into 5 rod plots; there are 32 people on the waiting
list.

The Delaware Crescent site has 8 ten rod plots some of which
have been split into 5 rod plots; there are 8 people on the waiting list.

The Vincent Crescent site has 20 ten rod plots most of which
have been split into 5 rod plots; there are 19 people on the waiting list.

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

No waiting lists are closed to further applications.

5) How many new Council Allotment sites were brought into use in 2009?

There were no new sites brought into use in 2009.
