As of January 2010, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in Luton for which Luton
Borough Council has access to waiting list data?

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites?

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

Dear Margaret Campbell

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Council under the Freedom of Information Act.

Please find the information you requested enclosed.

As of January 2010:

1) How many allotment sites are there in Luton for which Luton
Borough Council has access to waiting list data? -- 13 sites

2) What is the total number of plots on these sites? -- 1,026 plots

3) What is the total number of people on waiting lists for these
sites? -- 96 people

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications? --
none

5) How many new council allotment sites were brought into use in
2009? - see below notes
Please give:
a) number of new sites
b) names of new sites
c) total area of new land in hectares
d) total number of new plots

There should have been one site reopened ( previously closed due
to lack of demand) Knapps Farm in Toddington Road but due
to the weather this work was not completed. This site will provide for
between 40 and 50 plots in 2010 and is of 4.2 hectares

If demand continues, then another previously closed site( Bide -a
While - New Bedford Road ) is planned to re-open later in the year
of at least the same size and capacity
