Dear Sir or Madam,
As of December 2008, please could you tell me:
1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which
the council has access to waiting list data?
2) How many plots are on these sites?
3) How many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?
Yours faithfully,
Margaret Campbell

Dear Ms Campbell
Please find attached a list the allotments we hold, number of plots on
each site and waiting lists.
I should add a few notes of explanation. Some sites waiting lists are
on hold simply because for the size of site there are already a large
number of requests. Also please note that on a lot of our sites people
are prepared to wait for specific plots!
Also a number of sites have for many years been used as grazing land due
to lack of demand and some sites despite saying they have vacant plots,
because uptake has been so low have developed into overgrown areas -
with a certain wildlife value!
We are currently developing an allotment strategy which we hope will
allow us to encourage uptake at underused sites including interest in a
community orchard.
I hope this answers your queries.
Yours sincerely
Sandy Muirhead
