Dear Sir or Madam,
As of December 2008, please could you tell me:
1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which
the council has access to waiting list data?
2) How many plots are on these sites?
3) How many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?
Yours faithfully,

Your request for information has now been considered and our response is
as follows:-
There are 18 council owned allotment sites in the city. Of these, fifteen
are leased out to allotment associations who as part of their lease
administer the letting of plots. The three other sites are directly
managed by the council, however the day to day letting of allotments is
organised by one of the plot holders.
There are a further ten privately owned sites within the City of Derby.
As the letting of plots on these sites is managed by the allotment
associations, the council does not have completely up to date information
on the number of plots available or on waiting list numbers; although we
do occasionally ask the associations for information so we can monitor
progress.
The most recent information we have was gathered in October 2008 and is
included in the attachment.
The City Council does not hold information on whether waiting lists for
allotments are closed. Where there is very high demand for plots, the
allotment association will decide on how long a waiting list they feel it
is appropriate to keep. As plots become available waiting lists may be
reopened.
