Dear Margaret Campbell,
Thank you for your e-mail yesterday regarding the Freedom of Information
Request you submitted to us on the 21st December. Unfortunately, this
was overlooked due to the Christmas period, for which I can only
apologise.
As you are aware the council has 20 working days in which to respond,
and due to the Christmas holiday period, our response should have been
with you no later than yesterday 26th January.
I have this morning passed your request through to the appropriate
department, and will ask them to respond as soon as possible, given the
circumstances. The request has been logged for the original submission
date.

Dear Margaret Campbell
The information below is in reply to your recent request about allotment
waiting lists.
1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which the
council has access to waiting list data?
19 Council run allotment sites
2) How many plots are on these sites?
Bergholt Road - 52
Blackheath - 23
Drury Road - 72
East Bay - 61
Folley Gardens - 3
Goodey Close - 2
Grants Meadow - 46
Hazel Avenue - 10
Highfield Drive - 36
Irvine Road - 93
Lexden - 103
Littlebury Gardens - 10
Mercers Farm - 49
New Fairfield - 52
Notleys - 108
Severalls - 49
Sheepen Road - 13
Stanway - 64
The Willows - 48
Total of 894 allotment plots. These figures are as of today, I don't have
figures for Dec 2008
3) How many people are on these waiting lists for an allotment?
Bergholt Road - 60
Blackheath - 57
Drury Road - 98
East Bay - 93
Folley Gardens - 23
Goodey Close - 23
Grants Meadow - 83
Hazel Avenue - 42
Highfield Drive - 68
Irvine Road - 114
Lexden - 93
Littlebury Gardens - 65
Mercers Farm - 85
New Fairfield - 89
Notleys - 87
Severalls - 86
Sheepen Road - 60
Stanway - 75
The Willows - 75
There are a lot of duplications with this, as many people tend to be added
to more than one waiting list. On counting the individual people on the
waiting lists as a whole there are 561 people. These figures are as of
today, I don't have the figures for Dec 08 available.
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?
The waiting lists do not close to new applications, but are continually
added to.
5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?
Colchester Borough Council manage 19 allotment sites. I'm not aware how
many privately run or Parish Council allotments there are in the borough.
