Dear Sir or Madam,

Re: Overdue FOI Request

On December 23rd I submitted the following request for information:

"As of December 2008, please could you tell me:

1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which
the council has access to waiting list data?

2) How many plots are on these sites in total?

3) In total, how many people are on these waiting lists for an
allotment?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?"

By law, the response had to be prompt but no later than 26 January
2009. Under the Freedom of Information Act you should have replied
by now, and are breaking the law.

I would be grateful for a prompt response to this.

Yours sincerely,

Margaret Campbell

Dear Ms. Campbell

I refer to your request dated 23rd December 2008 under the Freedom of
Information Act for information about allotments in the Borough of
Surrey Heath. I am sorry about the long and unacceptable delay in
replying.

The Council holds some but not all of the information you require. I
will answer the questions in the order in which you put them in your
request.

1. The Council owns seven allotment sites. These sites are leased and
managed by the Camberley and District Horticultural Society. Waiting
lists for allotments are administered by the Society. The e mail address
of the Secretary of the Society is shown on the Council's website as
[email address]

2. There are approximately 290 individual plots on these sites but some
may be sub-divided.

3. This figure is maintained by the Society.

4. The Council believes that some of the lists may have been closed but
this will need to be confirmed by the Society.

5. Besides the Council's seven sites there are two other sites not owned
or managed on behalf of the Council.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. An internal review request should
be submitted within two months of the date of this e mail and should be
addressed to:

Mrs. Lesley Dolan
Data Protection and Freedom of Information Officer
Surrey Heath Borough Council
Surrey Heath House
Knoll Road

Surrey GU15 3HD

Please quote reference 06/0110 in any communication. If you are not
content with the outcome of the internal review you have the right to
apply directly to the Information commissioner for a decision. The
Information commissioner can be contacted at:
