Dear Sir or Madam,
Re:Overdue FOI request
On 23 December 2008 I sent the following request for information:
"As of December 2008, please could you tell me:

By law, the response had to be prompt but no later than 26 January
2009. Under the Freedom of Information Act you should have replied
by now, and are breaking the law.
I would be grateful for an early response to this.
Yours sincerely,

Dear Ms. Campbell,
Further to your e-mail of the 18th. February, 2009.
I would reply as follows:-
1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which
the council has access to waiting list data? - 23 allotment sites
managed by Chelmsford Borough Council.
2) How many plots are on these sites in total? - 911 plots in
total.
3) In total, how many people are on these waiting lists for an
allotment? - 209 vacant plots and therefore people applying for
an allotment can be accommodated at the
present time provided that they are willing to consider a number of
alternative locations. However, on a number of our sites
we do have waiting lists because prospective allotment tenants
specifically would like to be allocated a plot on these sites
and they are unwilling to consider an alternative. This is largely
due to the fact that our allotment sites are located on
historic sites and population growth in various parts of the Borough
has created higher demand in differing areas. To some
extent this is being addressed by the LDF and additional land for
allotments will in due course be made available to address
these imbalances, but this is wholly dependent on future development
and in the current economic climate there is little or
no further development.
4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications? -
No
5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area? - See
above
Yours sincerely
