Dear Ms Campbell

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST

Thank you for your request for information on allotments in the borough.
The request has now been considered and the information requested is
below.

You asked:-

1) How many allotment sites are there in the Council area for which the
council has access to waiting list data?

2) How many plots are on these sites in total?

3) In total, how many people are on these waiting lists for an
allotment?

4) Are any of these waiting lists closed to further applications?

5) How many sites are there in total in the Council area?

The allotment authorities for Allerdale are the various Town and Parish
Councils who own and manage the principle allotment areas in the Borough
and maintain the waiting lists and the provision of plots. In 2007
Allerdale Borough Council did commission a study of allotment provision in
the borough as part of its Open Space Audit. This can be found via our
website at:-

[1]http://www.allerdale.gov.uk/downloads/pa...

However, as Allerdale Borough Council does not hold information with
regard to waiting lists and the number of plots, you may like to contact
the individual town and parish councils for the current situation. Full
contact details can be found on our website at:-

[2]http://webapps.allerdale.gov.uk/moderngo...

I am also willing to pass on your request to the necessary councils if you
so wish.

Also the Borough Council manages approximately 70 individual garden or
pigeon loft sites and turnover is very low. A note of an expressed
interest in a garden is held on file should a garden become vacant.

I hope this satisfies your enquiry, however if you are dissatisfied with
the information provided please contact the Information and Records
Officer within two months of receipt of this letter at Allerdale Borough
Council, Allerdale House, Workington CA14 3YJ, phone (01900) 702701, email
[3][Allerdale District Council request email]. We will then make an internal review of the
decision.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF, Telephone: 01625 545745; [4]www.ico.gov.uk. Generally the ICO cannot
make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure
provided by Allerdale Borough Council.

The information supplied to you continues to be protected by copyright
laws. You are free to use it for your own purposes, including
non-commercial research you are doing and for the purposes of news
reporting. Any other re-use, for example commercial publication, would
require the permission of the copyright holder. You can find details of
our re-use of information policy on our website at [5]www.allerdale.gov.uk
.

Yours sincerely
