Alleged Campaigns

Alison Edgley made this Freedom of Information request to Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Alison Edgley

24 January 2010

Dear Knowsley Borough Council,

During 2009, the Department for Children, Schools and Families
(DCSF) claimed that two related campaigns were being conducted.

1. A campaign to vilify Graham Badman, author of a report into
home education.

2. A campaign to inundate the DCSF with Freedom of Information
requests.

Recent comments by a senior official in the DCSF suggested that
these alleged campaigns might have spread to include local
authorities.

I would like you to provide me with the following information.

First, please confirm whether or not you have observed these
alleged campaigns.

Second, please confirm whether or not you have exchanged any
correspondence with the DCSF regarding these alleged campaigns.

Finally, if you have exchanged correspondence with the DCSF on
this issue then please provide me with copies of that
correspondence.

Yours faithfully,

Alison Edgley

Dear Ms Edgley

I am writing in response to your request for information regarding alleged
campaigns during 2009 within the Department for Children, Schools and
Families (DCSF). Your questions have been retained for ease of reference.

1. In Knowsley we have not been aware of any campaigns to vilify Graham
Badman or to inundate the DCSF with FOI Requests.

However since September 2009 there have been 9 requests for
information (7 x FOI and 2 x DCSF) regarding EHE in Knowsley.

2. There has not been any correspondence exchange with DCSF regarding
theses campaigns.

3. See point 2, no correspondence has taken place.

Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Mrs P Jackson
