Alcohol harm prevention spending since 2007

m smith made this Freedom of Information request to Blackpool Primary Care Trust (PCT)

The request was partially successful.

From: m smith

1 January 2010

Dear Blackpool Primary Care Trust (PCT),

Following the news today that the NHS is struggling to cope with
alcohol related illness and injury, I would like to know what my
local NHS is doing to prevent such incidents.

I would like to know how much has been spent since January 2008 on:
Treatment of alcohol addiction within the Blackpool authority
Responsible drinking/ prevention campaigns
Education campaigns in Blackpool schools/ colleges
Any other measures you consider to be “reducing alcohol harm”

I would then like to know how many hospital admissions were related
to excessive/ chronic alcohol consumption between 2001-2009. Where
possible, broken down by year.

By law I am entitled to know this information and trust you will
respond promptly.

Yours faithfully,

M Smith

Dear Caunce Linda (BPCT),

Thank you for your response.

Could you please clarify which campaigns have actually been run by
blackpool PCT, as I haven't been aware of anything going on in the
town.

Yours sincerely,

m smith
