Joe Turner made this Freedom of Information request to Kent Police
Kent Police did not have the information requested.
From: Joe Turner
13 December 2010
Dear Kent Police,
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would like to know the
following information:
Any emails, meeting minutes, documents or procedures regarding the
movement of Fire Engines from Defence Fire Training & Development
Centre, Marston (labelled on the appliances as 'Defence Fire
Service') on public (non military) roads in Kent.
I refer you to a letter I received from the Ministry of Defence
"As I confirmed in my letter to you of 3 December, DFTDC Manston
have not responded to any emergency incidents, as they are a
training unit. The only circumstances where our ‘fire engines’
would drive quickly with blue lights
throughout local areas surrounding DFTDC, including Ramsgate, would
be as part of Emergency Response / Emergency Fire Appliance Driver
training. We have a
requirement to train in a safe and realistic manner to allow MOD
emergency vehicles to respond to incidents across the disparate
elements of the MOD Estate, which can involve transit along public
highways."
I would like to know whether you have thought and/or discussed this
issue with the MOD or DFTDC Marston.
Yours faithfully,
Joe Turner
