Dear Mr/Ms Pnayiotou

EXTENT OF SEARCHES TO LOCATE INFORMATION
To locate the information relevant to your request searches were conducted
within Human Resources.

RESULT OF SEARCHES
The searches located records relevant to your request.

DECISION
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you in full.

Please find below information pursuant to your request above.

1. In preparation for the implementation of the age legislation all HR
policies were subject to an audit to ensure that they complied with the
legislation and changes made where necessary. The Recruitment and
Selection Policy and its appropriate Standard Operating Procedures sets
out limits for the upper age for recruitment for police officers, special
constables, PCSO's and other police staff, for which an objective
justification was written. The Leaving the Service Policy and its
associated Standard Operating Procedures also takes full account of the
age legislation and although it sets a compulsory retirement age (65) for
police staff it also contains a process for applying to stay past the
current CRA. Police officers are slightly different in that they are
governed by Police Regulations and not employment legislation. However,
the Home Office has, as far as possible, complied with the age legislation
and the Standard Operating Procedure in respect of planned retirement for
police officers reflects this.

2. There is not a policy around long serving officers not having to work
night duty. However, I am advised that if a long serving officer were to
request not to work night duty, the request would be considered on its
merits.

Your attention is drawn to the attached sheet which details your right of
