Advice Given To Officers

Graham Roberts made this Freedom of Information request to Thames Valley Police

The request was partially successful.

From: Graham Roberts

7 October 2011

Dear Thames Valley Police,

I am interested in the advice or guidelines that officers follow
when interviewing under 18s.

Are officers allowed to meet with minors alone officially or
unoficially when investigating a crime ?

Yours faithfully,

Graham Roberts

Dear Mr Roberts

Reference No: RFI2011000797

I write in connection with the above-referenced Freedom of Information
Act (FOIA) request submitted on 7 October 2011. Thames Valley Police has
now considered this application, which for clarity, has been repeated
below:

I am interested in the advice or guidelines that officers follow when
interviewing under 18s.

Are officers allowed to meet with minors alone officially or
unofficially when investigating a crime ?

Thames Valley Police acts in accordance with PACE Code C which may be
useful for you as it concerns interviewing techniques in relation to
juveniles (under 17 years old) and adults (17+ years old). I have
provided a link to PACE below for your research:
