Advertisng hoarding outside Lisburn Museum

Gavin Bamford made this Freedom of Information request to Lisburn City Council

The request was successful.

From: Gavin Bamford

22 January 2011

Dear Lisburn City Council,

Within the past few months, a site outside the Lisburn Museum in
Martket Square, Lisburn has had hoarding placed around it. On this
hoarding, Lisburn City Council is advertising the Lisburn Museum.

Please advise whether Lisburn City Council has applied for the
appropriate planning permission to erect this hoarding and
advertise on it? If pp has been granted, please advise the
reference number and date advertised in local papers?

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours faithfully,

Gavin Bamford

Lisburn City Council

25 January 2011

Dear Mr Bamford

The hoarding on the south side of Market Square was erected by the
contractor installing the plinth of a monument being erected for the UDR
Trust.

The monument, which has received planning permission, was originally
expected to be completed and unveiled in September 2010.

The contractor left the hoarding in bare timber and only managed to paint
part of it.

Following a request from the Council that it be made more attractive, the
Museum requested permission from the Council last June to improve the
hoarding's appearance by placing graphically designed panels on it to
temporarily advertise the Museum's current exhibition. Due to their
erection for a temporary period, originally thought to be concluded last
Autumn, it was not thought any additional planning approval was needed.

It is now believed the monument will be completed in the Spring of 2011 and
the hoarding removed at that time. The Museum's advertisement panels will
be taken down in advance of the monument being completed.

Yours sincerely
