How many ‘held’ cases are there in adult care.
What is the ratio of adult care cases to each social worker.
What is the average time between referral for a service and
assessment of needs
What is the average time between referral and provision of the
necessary service.
What is your total adult care budget for 2009-2010
What proportion of this is spent providing care in the community
through Direct Payments or Individual Budgets.
What proportion of this is spent on residential care provision.
What is the average length of time for provision of aids.
What is the average length of time for provision of adaptations.

Thank you for your request for information.
We have completed the search of our records and can confirm the following:
1) How many social workers are there working in adult care? 169
2) How many of these are working with disabled people under 60? 48
3) How many adults are you providing some sort of community care
service to in total? 23,700
4) How many allocated cases are there in adult care? 15,250
5) How many unallocated cases are there in adult care? 3,061
6) How many `held' cases are there in adult care? Staffordshire County
Council does not have a category of `held' cases, however if you could
please clarify what you mean by a `held' case we may be able to comment
further.
7) What is the ratio of adult care cases to each social worker? Due to
the different demographics of how the 8 districts are set up we are unable
to provide this figure accurately.
8) What is the average time between referral for a service and
assessment of needs? 38.7 days
9) What is the average time between referral and provision of the
necessary service? 30 days
10) What is the average length of time for the provision of aids? 6 days
11) What is the average length of time for the provision of adaptations?
6 days
12) What is your total adult care budget for 2009-2010? £138.2m (front
line adult social care - net budget)
13) What proportion of this is spent providing care in the community
through Direct Payments or Individual Budgets? 9.8% (direct payment net
spend as % of total in 12 months)
14) What proportion of this is spent on residential care provision? 44.8%
(residential cost as % of total in 12 months)
