Adoption Renuions in Northern Ireland
carolyn Lee made this Freedom of Information request to Health and Social Care Board for Northern Ireland
Health and Social Care Board for Northern Ireland did not have the information requested.
From: carolyn Lee
8 October 2010
Dear Health and Social Care Board for Northern Ireland,
I am carrying out research into adoption and adoption reunions, and
would be grateful if you could help. I wish to make a freedom of
information request for the following:
How many adoption reunions have occurred in Northern Ireland since
2001?
How many adoption reunions have occured in Northern Ireland
involving an adoptee who is a full blood birth sibling, with their
birth family?
What are the procedures used in Northern Ireland in arranging a
reunion between an adoptee and their birth family?
Is the adoptee's mental health, general health etc taken into
consideration, when arranging a reunion with their birth family?
And likewise that of the birth family?
What are the most common problems which occur during an adoption
reunion in Northern Ireland?
Do the health and social care board recognise that attraction
between the adoptee and birth family is a risk when arranging an
adoption reunion?
How is this risk minimised? What procedures/precautions are used to
counter this?
Are there any cases of this phenomenon (i.e. gsa), occuring in
Northern Ireland?
Yours faithfully,
carolyn Lee
