Dear Melizza
I have been informed by our Adoptions Team that they have had difficulty
in responding to your request as their emails have been "bounced" back as
undeliverable.
I said that I would try iin case they were using the wrong address or
there was some technical issue causing this.
In response to your question:
If an adoption placement breaks down, do the birth parents automatically
gets notified. If not, could you explain why ?
If an adoption placement breaks down, the Adoption and Children Act 2002
requires the local authority to notify any parent of the child of the
prospective adopters' wish to return the child. In Birmingham it is the
Children's Directorate that is responsible for notifying the birth
parents. This task is undertaken via the child's Social Worker rather
than the Adoption Service itself.
Yours sincerely,
Steve Cullen
